5 out of 5 starsI have to say Amy does the most beautiful job on the painted the painted stones, I adore the tiny ones, and have bought many items from Her to give as gifts and everyone loved them. Thank you Amy I am thrilled with the tiny stones and will be gifting others with them, but first I will keep a favorite for myself. You always make me so happy with your art! I highly recommend Amy, as an artist and seller.

5 out of 5 starsI am so fascinated by the beauty of these rocks and the way they are made. Some are so tiny yet the picture on the rock is clear. Ah, the patience Amy has! I love these special rocks and enjoy leaving them in places for others to see. They are also sent quickly and packaged uniquely and protectively. You won't be disappointed buying from this shop.

5 out of 5 starsI love that these rocks are different sizes. What amazes me is how they all have beautiful pictures on them. Amy explained the process for creating them, it's quite impressive. I have ordered more so I can share her talent with others. She also sent an extra one which was a fun surprise.

How do you make your rocks?
Amy partners with other artists to created amazing mixed media decorated rocks. She starts with an acrylic pour to get the marbled affect on the backgrounds, or occasionally leaves a pretty rock unpainted. Then she finds line drawings from coloring books or other artists and gets permission to use them for these charity sales.
Images sized to specific rocks are printed on tissue paper, so the thin paper will mold to a curved rock. She colors them carefully on the fragile paper. Then they are meticulously cut out. The design is traced onto the rock so Amy can paint white under it to make the colors pop. Then the paper is glued on. Often details are added with metallic paint. Then the rock is coated with water- and UV-resistant sealant.
What is a spoonie?
Spoonies are people with any chronic illness that affects their energy. The term “spoon” is used to indicate extremely limited energy reserves. It originates from an allegory, “The Spoon Theory”, by Christine Miserandino where she uses actual spoons to explain how most healthy people get a large enough reserve of energy “spoons” that they don’t need to notice how little things like taking a shower or getting dressed uses up a spoon.
Spoons to Spare empowers spoonies by donating crafting supplies and working together to raise money for research toward a cure. Giving spoonies the resources to be able to do what limited artwork they can do helps give them a sense of purpose and brings beauty to their lives.
How does this ministry work?
Spoons to Spare is a group of spoonie crafters. We are sponsored by Evergreen Bible Church in Washington state, who donates all our supplies. This way 100% of the proceeds from Etsy sales can go to the nonprofit Open Medicine Foundation, who is doing biomedical research on ME/CFS, a severe energy metabolism disorder. OMF is seeking an effective treatment or cure, and they hope that info will lead to helping many other chronic illnesses as well, including post covid19 conditions.
Spoons to Spare also participates in local bazaars and craft fairs. The money raised from those is donated to a spoonie in need once a year.
